About Us

Wellington Shambhala Centre is a charitable trust organisation. It is one of two Shambhala meditation centres in New Zealand. The other centre is in Auckland, and both are under the auspices of the New Zealand Shambhala Buddhist Trust.

Each centre is run by a council of meditation practitioners. The two centres are funded by voluntary donations, and through running courses and programmes.

Both centres are part of Shambhala International. There are more than 170 centers and groups around the world, as well as thousands of individual members. We welcome people of any spiritual background, religion or way of life.
