Acharyas / Teachers
Shambhala Acharyas are senior teachers appointed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and are empowered to represent him and the Kagyu, Nyingma, and Shambhala lineages he holds. The acharyas lead dharma programmes and perform Refuge and Bodhisattva Vow ceremonies for those who would like to commit to the Buddhist path. The Wellington Shambhala Centre has the good fortune to host several visiting acharyas, including:
Richard John - Acharya
For many years, Acharya Richard John teachings have focused on the union of the Buddhist and Shambhala traditions. Richard completed the first three-year retreat at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. He has a background in organizational development and is accustomed to working with local leadership groups.

Dale Asrael - Acharya
Acharya Dale Asrael has taught mediation retreats (dathuns) in the Shambhala tradition throughout North America and in New Zealand. She has a background in interpersonal psychology and teaches at Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
Dale was one of the Acharya's leading Sutrayana Seminary in Taumaranui January 2009.

David Hope - Acharya
Acharya David Hope has been a member of the London Shambhala Centre since its early days. He attended seminary in 1983, and then was resident Director for Shambhala Training in London for many years. He has also been a co-director at Dechen Choling in France, and served on the Shambhala International board of directors. He now lives near Dechen Chöling with his wife Chris de Block.
David lead Sutrayana Seminary with Dale in January 2009.
