Welcome!

Welcome to the Wellington Shambhala Meditation Centre.

(5 Woburn Road, Northland, Wellington)

Upcoming events

At Sunday Sitting this Sunday 18 May 2025 Shambhala Teacher Marian Bond will be giving the following talk:

“Transformation of Mind in the Buddha Dharma.

The point of the Buddhist teachings and path is transformation – the path of transforming ourselves. What does that mean?  It points to a different approach to life.  We start where we are and we look with exertion and humour into the way our being is.  And if we look hard enough we will see we have a lot of assumptions, projections, versions of how we would like things to be.  The challenge of the journey is to let things speak to us.  The Buddha sat down under the Bodhi tree and let his experience speak to him.  What he discovered was that things aren’t what we think.  The true nature of reality is free of concept, empty and brilliantly luminous.”

Sunday Sitting starts at 10.00 am and concludes at noon. We will begin with Chants and meditation practice followed by Marian’s talk which will include time for group discussion.

This will be a great opportunity to spend some time with Marian before she and Colin head overseas for their usual Winter holiday.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday at the Wellington Shambhala Centre, 5 Woburn Road, Northland, Wellington

About Wellington Shambhala Meditation Centre

We are part of Shambhala International, a worldwide community of meditation centres founded by meditation master Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

His teachings bring together three streams of wisdom:

  • the Kagyu and Nyingma teachings of Tibetan Buddhism
  • the wisdom teachings of Shambhala

It is the Shambhala view that every human being has a fundamental nature of goodness, warmth and intelligence.
