Welcome!

Welcome to the Wellington Shambhala Meditation Centre,  located at Level 6, 75 Ghuznee Street, Wellington. We are part of Shambhala International, a worldwide community of meditation centres founded by meditation master Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and led today by his son Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Their teachings bring together three streams of wisdom:

  • the Kagyu and Nyingma teachings of Tibetan Buddhism
  • the wisdom teachings of Shambhala

For more information about the source of the teachings click here.

Our meditation centre offers the following:

  • individual meditation instruction
  • group meditation practice at times advised here on the this page
  • weekend programmes
  • residential retreats for up to one month

Generosity Policy

“Our Generosity Policy allows anyone to participate fully in the life of
our Centre regardless of his or her ability to contribute financially. The
Wellington Shambhala Center thrives due to the generosity of its program
participants, friends and members.

Recognising that generosity, trust and openness are interconnected, we
offer all of our programs on a suggested-donation basis and welcome
participants to donate less or more than the suggested amounts as they can afford.  Alternatively it is possible to spread the payment of any program over a few weeks.

Please discuss with the program coordinator.”
